January 2019 – Maroochy Botanical Gardens

The group started the year with a walk through the Maroochy Botanical Gardens at Tanawha. While it was only a small group this time, they enjoyed a leisurely stroll taking in their beautiful surrounds, before gathering for some morning tea in the Garden Cafe.

Oct Boat Cruise

It was a glorious day to be cruising around the Pumicestone Passage. The crew were driven around by Bromilow carer Zach who has a boating background and they enjoyed some morning tea on the boat.

The group learnt some new skills and enjoyed a game of Croquet at the Headland-Buderim Croquet Club last week. This was followed by morning tea and catch up in the club house. Many thanks to Phil and the other cub members who assisted in making this a successful event.

Paul, Russell and Eddie joined some Bromilow clients for a tour of the Queensland Air Museum at Caloundra, which included morning tea and lunch.  The tour guides were very knowledgeable and took everyone through the history of air travel in Australia with over 90 warplanes and air craft on display.

Thank you to the Queensland Air Museum for a fascinating day out.

The group began the year with some multicultural dancing lead by Lorraine who holds a weekly class in Buderim as part of the Lively 50 Plus Sunshine Coast Group.  After a few beats everyone got their rhythm and away they went and Janette knew the words to most of the songs. Dancing was followed by morning tea at the Bird’s and Beans Cafe in Burnett St Buderim.

Bocce on the Beach

It was only a small group today, but that didn’t stop the competitive natures from coming out while playing Bocce on the Beach at Currimundi Lake.  With a gorgeous backdrop of the Currimundi Lake meeting the ocean the guys had a few games of Bocce on the grassed area before dipping their toes into the lake, and then enjoyed fish and chips for lunch.  Thanks to Zach, Stacey and Ahri for your assistance.

The Sept activity saw the group fishing at the Bli Bli Barra Fishing Park (in the Bli BLi Water Sports Park, 367 David Low Way Bli Bli).  Even though only one fish was caught, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.   Fishing was followed by a picnic lunch and lively conversation.  Many thanks to James from the Bli Bli Barra Fishing Park for his generosity and assistance in making this a successful event.  Thanks also to Bromilow carer Janine and volunteer Stacey for your valuable support.

Our enthusiastic group was thrilled to be back at the Buderim Bowls Club for more lessons and to catch up with friends. The afternoon was hosted by club ambassadors, Alan and Leona who proved to be excellent teachers and fabulous BBQ chefs.

As the afternoon rolled on we extended our skill level, laughed till it hurt and most of all relished an opportunity to be outdoors with friends.

July Activity – The Ginger Factory

A lovely day spent at the Ginger Factory with the Adventure with Dementia group on Tuesday, a leisurely walk around the beautiful gardens, browsing through the shops and a fun ride on the train followed by a light lunch with lots of chatting and laughter. Thank you Stacey for the great photos and your support.
