We know that social engagement and physical activity is good for our brains, this can help us to stay connected, do things that make us feel happy, increase the blood flow to the brain which in turn decreases the “foggy” feeling. Staying socially connected also helps us sleep better and provides greater chances of clarity of thought.
Who can participate?
The group is targeted for young people under the age of 65, as well as those who are over 65, yet fit and active and wanting to have some fun.
How often will the group meet?
Initially the group will meet every month in Buderim as its base meeting point and will be facilitated by a Support Worker and Volunteer, both trained in dementia support and communication.
What type of activities will be on offer?
We will offer a different activity every month, and provide you the flexibility of choice to participate in what you want to do.
This is the first of its kind on the Sunshine Coast, offering an alternative to respite activities, while also offering some down time to spouse’s and carers.
